For the opening of the 7th Hamburg Guitar Festival, the JugendGitarrenOrchester-Hamburg (JGOH) will be presenting its new CD at the Freie Akademie der Künste (Klosterwall 23, 20095 Hamburg) on 3rd of November 2016 at 20:00. Just in time for the opening of the festival, the young ensemble will also celebrate its ten-year anniversary. The concert program and the new CD entitled "Dedicated - JGOH and Friends" will almost exclusively contain compositions especially written for the orchestra by composers from around the world. Internationally acclaimed musicians such as Andrew York (USA), Richard Charlton (AUS), Máximo Diego Pujol (ARG), Dieter Kreidler (GR), Martin Staeffler (GER), Andres Villamil (COL), Mirco Oldigs (GER) and Don Ross (CAN). On May 9th, 2015, the young ensemble shared the stage with the world-famous Los Angeles Guitar Quartet to perform and record the piece "Shiki" by the japanese composer Shingo Fujii. This recording will also be part of the new CD - with the kind permission of NDR Kultur und Studio Hamburg. On 13th May this year the young musicians introduced their new program to the public for the first time and got enthusiastic feedback from the press and the audience. The “Zevener Zeitung” wrote: "Concentrated, professional and yet full of emotion, they plug their strings, playing the works of Máximo Diego Pujol, Andrew York, Richard Charlton, Dieter Kreidler and Andrés Villamil with impressive precision, harmony and passion. ... It was a great start for this year's guitar festival, and the orchestra seamlessly integrated into the series of big names that have already appeared in Zeven. " The JugendGitarrenOrchester-Hamburg (JGOH) was founded in 2006 and is one of the most successful musical education projects in Hamburg today. In 2012 the JGOH was awarded at the German National Orchestra Competition. In addition, they regularly performed concert tours and in 2012 they recorded the live CD "JGOH on Tour". One year later the orchestra drew attention with the DVD production "JGOH unplugged - The Power of Acoustic Guitar". The successful support of young talents around the JGOH has brought 163 prize winners in the Jugend musiziert competition in recent years.. At the competition "Orchestrale" on October 4 nin 2015, the JGOH was able to qualify for the German National Orchestral Competition with the highest possible score of 25 points for the third time in a row, where they competed with "very good success".
